ABSTRACT:
This article analyzes the characteristics and factors of transformation and identity construction in transitional societies in the context of integration strategies. The interdependence of consolidation processes of the new regime and formation of nation-state identity was substantiated on the example of Ukraine. It was concluded that under the conditions of blurry and ambivalent political, social, national and ethnic identities in transitional societies the transnational (civilizational) identities, conditioned by the integration aspirations, contribute to the formation of community’s self-identity at the macro level.
