ABSTRACT:
The article shows that the current EU common position on rejection of the Russian actions in Ukraine and sanctions imposed against Russia are based upon a fragile compromise of the multidirectional interests of the countries of the united Europe. However, the author argues that although some EU countries have taken an ambiguous stance on the conflict and are un- willing to share the burden of the economic sanctions against Russia, it is unlikely that in the near future their position can be a real obstacle to the implementation of the EU joint action.
